Gaming surveillance officers monitor people in casinos to ensure they do not cheat. State and federal government agencies also hire these specialists to ensure casinos are adhering to state and federal gambling regulations. Gaming surveillance officers also supervise casino employees to make sure they do not steal money or assist cheating players. Additionally, these specialists enforce casino policies.

Gaming surveillance officers used sophisticated technology, including facial recognition technology, to observe casino activity. Many casinos still rely on traditional surveillance procedures, for example, ceiling mirrors, to observe players and investigate suspected cheating. Gaming surveillance officers also confront players acting obnoxiously or threating casino employees.
